Call for Volunteers and National Coordinators

Refugees Reporting is currently on the lookout for interested volunteers and national coordinators who are willing to participate in the media monitoring.

What is the media monitoring?

Media monitoring is a central part of the project, aimed at assessing the representation of refugees and migration issues in the media in at least 5 European countries (including countries of entry, transit and settlement). It will follow the long-standing methodology of the gender media monitoring project  of WACC, adapting it to the issue of refugees’ coverage in and by the media.

The media monitoring will take place over two or three days in late May/early June and training will be provided beforehand to all involved.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for individual and group volunteers – from educational institutions, churches and faith-based groups, community organisations and more.

We are also looking for National Coordinators. National Coordinators help identify the media to be monitored, organise groups monitoring, and communicate the results to the project facilitators.

For more information, please refer to the Terms of Reference for National Coordinators.

Why should I participate?

The media monitoring is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the project. It is also a chance for you to learn about the media monitoring methodology, to become part of a European group of volunteers and to connect and share an experience with other people who have a common interest in refugees‘ issues.

As volunteers and national coordinators, you will be an integral part of a new research and advocacy project, with the final report and recommendations highlighted for media, government and multi-governmental organisations in addition to ecumenical and community partners.

Do you have any countries in mind?

Our priority countries for the media monitoring are: Italy, Greece, Hungary, Serbia, Sweden and Germany. We are however keen on expanding the number of countries participating, so if you are interested, and your country is not among the ones mentioned above, please do get in touch!

How do I participate?

If you are interested, or would simply like to know more, please send an email to francesca.pierigh(at)ccme.be
